At what grade should a child learn times tables?+
Multiplication is usually introduced in Grade 2 and times tables are drilled through Grade 3 and Grade 4. Fluency up to 12×12 by end of Grade 4 is a common goal.
Which times tables should a child learn first?+
The 2s, 5s and 10s are easiest and are usually taught first. Then 3s, 4s and 11s. The hardest are 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s and 12s — save these for last and drill them with games.
