Free Printable Sight Word Flashcards
Free printable sight word flashcards โ Dolch list for Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2. Instant PDF download, no signup.
Sight word flashcards are the best tool for the hardest part of early reading. Sight words can't be sounded out (try phonetically decoding 'the' โ you can't), so children have to simply memorise them. Flashcards are how that memorisation happens efficiently. Five minutes a day, 10 cards at a time, and most kids have the Kindergarten sight word list memorised in a few weeks.
This printable covers the full Dolch sight word list (220 words) split into Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 levels. 8 cards per sheet, large clear text, plenty of white space. Print on cardstock, laminate if you're going to use them daily, and keep them in a small container near where you usually do bedtime reading.
Work in chunks of 10 words at a time. Once the child gets 8 out of 10 right three sessions in a row, move those cards to a 'known' pile and bring in 10 new ones. Pair with Word Spell on screen and sight word worksheets on paper for full coverage. Everything free.
