Grade 3 is when division becomes serious. Grade 2 introduced it as 'sharing' — four cookies for two friends, each gets two — but Grade 3 is where it gets written notation, fact families linked to multiplication, and eventually the first taste of long division. The kids who handle Grade 3 division smoothly are almost always the ones who know their times tables, because division and multiplication are the same skill backwards.

The worksheets on this page cover the Grade 3 division progression: basic facts (12 ÷ 3), dividing within 100 (84 ÷ 7), word problems ('Sam has 24 stickers and gives them equally to 4 friends'), and an introduction to long division with single-digit divisors. Each sheet has an answer key at the bottom for easy parent/teacher marking.

Pair these sheets with our multiplication flash cards and Multiplication Blast game — because division struggles are almost always multiplication struggles in disguise. Solid times tables first, then division follows naturally. Everything free, classroom-ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

What division topics are covered?+

Basic division facts (up to 100), word problems, fact families linking multiplication and division, and an introduction to long division with single-digit divisors.

Should my child know multiplication before division?+

Yes. Division and multiplication are inverses of each other — a child who doesn't know 7 × 8 = 56 will struggle with 56 ÷ 7. Solid times tables first, then division follows.

Are answer keys included?+

Yes. Every worksheet has an answer key printed at the bottom or on a separate page.

Is long division included?+

A gentle introduction — single-digit divisors only. Full long division with two-digit divisors is a Grade 4 topic.
