Free Seasons Worksheets โ Printable PDF
Free printable seasons worksheets โ spring, summer, autumn, winter. Matching, sorting and drawing activities. Preschool and Kindergarten.
The four seasons are a concept that feels universal until you try to teach them to a 4-year-old in Mumbai โ where 'winter' means 15 degrees and a cardigan โ or a 6-year-old in Sydney whose Christmas is in summer. Seasons are actually surprisingly abstract, and they need to be grounded in physical observation before kids can use the words confidently.
The worksheets on this page start from observation. Early sheets show four panels โ one for each season โ and ask kids to match pictures of clothing, weather, or activities to the right panel. Middle sheets cover season-to-month mapping (which months are autumn?) and season-to-activity mapping (do you swim in winter?). Advanced sheets introduce short writing exercises: 'my favourite thing about winter is...'
Pair with a walk outside to look at the current season's signs โ leaves on trees, flowers, frost, heat โ and the worksheets consolidate what they just saw. Our Colour Match and Sorting Frenzy games reinforce the sorting logic that underlies season classification. Everything is free and printable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age should kids learn the seasons?+
Most children are ready around age 4 to 5. By Kindergarten, they should know the four season names and roughly which months belong to each (if they live somewhere with distinct seasons).
What if we don't have four distinct seasons where I live?+
Teach the concept using the Northern/Southern hemisphere examples, and focus on activities and clothing rather than weather. Kids in tropical climates can still learn the vocabulary, just not from their own windows.
Do the worksheets assume Northern Hemisphere seasons?+
We include both versions โ Northern Hemisphere (winter = December) and Southern Hemisphere (winter = June). Pick the one that matches where you live.
Are these linked to science curriculum?+
Yes โ seasons are part of most Kindergarten and Grade 1 science curricula covering weather and the natural world. Our sheets match standard objectives.
